Canvas Shoe Decoration: Marauder's Map Edition

I wanted a pair of canvas shoes for summer.  I also wanted them in a natural so they'd go with all the crazy colors I wear.  When I saw this color my first thought was, "These are the same color as the Marauder's Map!"  Now, I'm making my Marauder's Map canvas shoe dreams are coming true and yours can, too.

Decorating canvas shoes of any kind (TOMS, Keds, Vans, Converse, etc.) is super easy.  Below are general instructions for decorating canvas shoes, then I'll show you how I made mine into a Marauder's Map.

Laundry Room Art: Wash, Dry, Fold, Repeat

Laundry rooms are often the most neglected room in the house when it comes to decorating.  You throw a washer and drying in there.  You maybe hang a wire shelf and/or a hang bar.  Then, you close the door and pretend that room doesn't exist.  I wanted to make some simple art work for my laundry room, maybe it will make doing laundry a little less dreary.

The best part about this project, is that it can be adapted for any room in the house.  Just change what the canvases say and get creative with the center canvas!

Refinishing Wood Furniture

Before the move, I had one last DIY project to finish up.  J's parents were nice enough to give us a Buffet and Hutch that they were no longer using.  J's dad built it himself, and it was a very nice piece of furniture.  However, lightly stained wood with enamel hardware isn't really our style.  For the cost of paint and new hardware, we have an awesome piece for our dining room.  In fact, it looks so good, her mom has threatened to take it back!

If you don't have parents donating furniture to you, thrift stores are a great place to find wooden pieces of furniture that are just in need of a little love.

Large Initial Canvases

I like to have large pieces of art above my bed.  The problem with large pieces of art is that they are typically very expensive.  I wanted to create over the bed art work that would be cute, individual, and work on my budget.
